Baghdad:A meeting chaired by Prime Minister Ali Falih Al-Zaidi focused on the progress of the One Million Residential Land Plots Project, known as the ‘Watan Initiative.’ The Prime Minister emphasized the need to launch the registration link for the initiative next month to facilitate land distribution based on residents’ locations at the governorate and district levels, ensuring inclusion of eligible and low-income families.
According to Iraqi News Agency, the meeting gathered key figures including the Ministers of Justice and Agriculture, and various commission chairmen, to review the project’s progress and outline the remaining steps needed for its completion on schedule.
The Prime Minister instructed the Ministry of Justice to fast-track the completion of a database for real estate properties to streamline the allocation and transfer of land ownership. Additionally, he urged relevant authorities to propose measures to expedite the transfer of ownership for residential units on agricultural land in line with existing laws.
Progress on the ‘Watan Initiative’ was highlighted by Ihsan Al-Awadi, Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister, who noted that 275,000 residential land plots across 121 cities in 15 provinces are prepared for development. Contracting for infrastructure services has begun, with the foundation stone for the first province set to be laid imminently.

The Prime Minister reinforced that distribution should consider demographic and geographic factors to guarantee equitable access for eligible families.
