Oil Ministry Launches Trial Operations at Nasiriyah Gas Depot

Nasiriyah:The Ministry of Oil has commenced trial operations of the storage capacity project at the Nasiriyah Gas Depot.

According to Iraqi News Agency, Deputy Minister for Gas Affairs, Izzat Saber Ismail, highlighted the project’s significance in enhancing the storage system for liquefied gas. This initiative aims to stabilize and facilitate the supply of liquefied gas to the Dhi Qar Governorate, thereby satisfying the needs of its citizens and supporting various activities.

During the launch, Ismail inspected the facilities and technical preparations, accompanied by the Director General of the South Gas Company, the Director General of the General Company for Gas Filling and Services, and other officials. The depot, featuring a total storage capacity of 5,000 cubic meters through two tanks, receives liquefied gas via a feeder pipeline from the South Gas Company at a daily rate of 300 to 400 tonnes, which is sufficient to meet the governorate’s daily requirements of 250 to 350 tonnes.

The project is expected to bolster gas cylinder-filling operations at both government and private plants, potentially producing 25,000 to 30,000 cylinders per day, equating to around 300 tonnes. This development will enhance services provided to citizens by meeting their demands for cooking gas and LPG vehicle fuel.

Ismail emphasized the necessity of completing the project’s connection, programming, and technical testing to ensure its full and safe operation, while adhering to safety standards and technical specifications. He praised the teams involved for their efforts in bringing the project to fruition.
