Review Meeting on Foreign Labor Status Held in Iraq


Baghdad:Director of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, recently chaired a meeting focused on the status of foreign labor in Iraq.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting included attendees such as a representative from the Supreme Judicial Council, the Director General of Civil Status at the Ministry of Interior, the Director of the Residency Affairs Directorate, and representatives from the National Security Service, the National Intelligence Service, and the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, along with members from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.



The discussion aimed at implementing directives related to the monitoring of foreign labor in Iraq to ensure adherence to legal procedures in line with the current laws and regulations. The focus was on regulating the labor market to balance market demands with the need for specialized expertise in the country.



The meeting also highlighted the necessity of addressing issues concerning foreign labor working outside legal frameworks, emphasizing the enforcement of laws and enhancing auditing, oversight, and monitoring by the relevant authorities due to potential economic, security, and social impacts.



General Al-Shammari concluded the meeting by stressing the need for continued follow-up and the formulation of recommendations, which will be presented to the Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.
