Baghdad: Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi confirmed on Thursday that the government is currently preparing the 2027 budget, noting that it will be sent to Parliament soon.
According to Iraqi News Agency, the Prime Minister’s Media Office stated in a press release that ‘Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi met today, Thursday, with members of the Sadiqun parliamentary bloc, headed by MP Uday Awad al-Tamimi.’ The meeting covered a range of national issues, focusing on improving development and public services across all governorates. Additionally, discussions were held on enhancing cooperation between the executive and legislative branches to support the government’s reform initiatives and combat corruption.
The Prime Minister highlighted the crucial role of the legislative authority in reinforcing government actions and enabling the implementation of its program. He stressed the importance of legislative oversight in combating corruption by monitoring performance within state institutions. Al-Zaidi also noted that preparations for the 2027 budget are underway, with plans to submit it to the House of Representatives soon. The budget includes a strategy to increase oil production and exports over the coming years and allocates significant funds to the electricity sector.
In response, the head of the Sadiqun parliamentary bloc expressed full support for the Prime Minister’s efforts and the government’s policies. The bloc emphasized its commitment to combating corruption, achieving financial and administrative reforms, prioritizing the nation’s supreme interests, and preserving its resources.
