Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi Emphasizes Iraq’s Economic Openness with Italy and EU

Baghdad: Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi affirmed on Sunday that Iraq seeks economic openness with Italy and other European Union countries.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the Prime Minister’s Media Office stated in a press release that “Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi received the Italian Ambassador to Iraq, Nicol² Fontana, and they reviewed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to develop the partnership in various fields.”

“The Prime Minister emphasized that Iraq seeks economic openness with Italy and other European Union countries and to benefit from the advanced technological level of Italian companies in various fields, particularly in the energy, agriculture, and industry sectors, reiterating his invitation for Italy to contribute to the comprehensive development process in Iraq,” according to the statement.

For his part, Fontana affirmed his government’s keenness to strengthen bilateral relations with Iraq in all areas of joint work, for the benefit of both friendly countries.
