Baghdad: Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi affirmed the government’s interest in attracting more South Korean investments to Iraq, highlighting the country’s eagerness to collaborate with and leverage the expertise of South Korean companies operating nationwide.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the Prime Minister’s Media Office issued a press release detailing a recent meeting between Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi and the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Iraq, Lee Joon-il. During this meeting, Ambassador Lee delivered a written message from South Korean President Lee Jae-Myung. In his message, President Lee extended congratulations to Prime Minister al-Zaidi on the formation of the Iraqi government and underscored the significance of strengthening bilateral relations and partnerships to support mutual interests and assist Iraq in addressing international economic challenges.

Prime Minister al-Zaidi emphasized the importance of fostering bilateral relations between Iraq and South Korea, focusing on expanding cooperation in key sectors such as investment, energy, and technology. He reiterated Iraq’s willingness to benefit from the expertise of South Korean companies, particularly in sectors like automotive and electronics, where South Korea possesses substantial experience and which align with the needs of the Iraqi market.

Prime Minister al-Zaidi also pointed out the opportunities and facilities provided by the Iraqi government to enhance the investment environment and support economic reforms, aiming to attract more South Korean investments.
