Baghdad: The Prime Minister has agreed to exempt Yazidi women from both the age and grade point average (GPA) requirements for admission to universities and postgraduate studies. This decision was announced by the Minister of Migration and Displacement, Evan Faeq Jabro, who has been working towards alleviating the challenges faced by returning Yazidi women.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Minister Jabro shared in a press statement that Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, who also serves as the Chairman of the Supreme Council for Women’s Affairs, has approved several proposals. These measures are aimed at easing the suffering of Yazidi women and are being coordinated with relevant sectoral authorities.

One of the key proposals includes the exemption of Yazidi women from the usual age requirement and a reduction of 10 points or more from the average GPA needed for admission to higher education institutions. Minister Jabro emphasized that this initiative is a significant step towards supporting the education of Yazidi women and facilitating their integration into society. She also commended the Prime Minister’s efforts in advancing women’s issues and enhancing their status in various domains.
