Baghdad: Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi emphasized the urgency of reforming existing laws and legislation, highlighting the need to approve several critical bills, including the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) Law. Al-Zaidi’s remarks came during a meeting with Rebwar Hadi Abdulrahman, Chairman of the Parliamentary Legal Committee, and its members.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the meeting focused on discussing various issues, legislation, and laws pertinent to the functions of both the executive and legislative branches. The discussions underscored the importance of collaboration between these authorities to expedite the enactment of legislation that impacts citizens and bolsters the functioning of state institutions.

The Prime Minister stressed the necessity of updating the legislative framework to align with developmental needs, stimulate economic growth, and reinforce the rule of law and state institutions. He highlighted the importance of adhering to constitutional and legal procedures when addressing national matters and emphasized, “There is a need for fundamental reform of laws and legislation,” specifically mentioning the PMF Law, the Development Fund Law, and other critical bills awaiting approval.

The Chairman and members of the Parliamentary Legal Committee expressed their support for the government’s legal reform initiatives, its anti-corruption efforts, and the implementation of the government program. They reiterated their commitment to legislative work that prioritizes citizens’ interests and enhances stability and development.
