Istanbul: Turkish security sources announced on Sunday the arrest of a prominent ISIS leader of Turkish nationality in a joint operation by Turkish and Pakistani intelligence on the border with Afghanistan.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Turkish security sources stated in a media release that Turkish intelligence had identified a person of Turkish origin who was overseeing the movement of members of the terrorist organization from Europe and Central Asia toward the border areas between Pakistan and Afghanistan. This individual, €š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬€š¬¦‚¬Å¡¬€¦‚¬Å“zgr Altun, also known as Abu Yasser al-Turki, is considered the highest-ranking Turkish official in ISIS and plays a significant role in the media and logistics sectors of the terrorist organization.

The Turkish security sources further indicated that Altun had previously issued directives to launch attacks on concert venues in Turkey and Europe. He is listed on the Orange List of Wanted Persons. Turkish intelligence had informed its Pakistani counterpart about Altun’s activities in Afghanistan and his plan to cross into Pakistan.

The sources highlighted that Pakistani intelligence pledged full support to Turkish intelligence, emphasizing that “Turkey’s enemy is also Pakistan’s enemy.” Subsequently, Turkish and Pakistani intelligence executed a meticulously planned joint operation, leading to the arrest of €š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬€š¬¦‚¬Å¡¬€¦‚¬Å“zgr Altun on the Pakistan-Afghan border. Following his capture, Altun was deported to Turkey.
