Baghdad: Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) member Pola Sirwan Talabani affirmed the party’s support for all initiatives and efforts aimed at ending the political deadlock in the Kurdistan Region. According to Iraqi News Agency, Talabani stated, “The PUK supports all attempts to extricate the Kurdistan Region from political deadlock and stagnation, activate the Kurdistan Parliament, and form the government,” highlighting that “the PUK has presented more than one initiative to achieve this goal.”
He noted that several attempts and initiatives by various political entities are underway to address the political deadlock, and the PUK has expressed its backing for these initiatives. Talabani emphasized that the continuation of the current situation is not in the interest of the region or its citizens.
Talabani further clarified that the situation in the Kurdistan Region is challenging, and citizens require a strong and effective government capable of providing services and addressing their needs. He stressed that the PUK is committed to organizing and unifying the Kurdish political landscape.
He pointed out that the current stage, given the circumstances in Iraq and the region, is extremely sensitive and calls for a unified vision and plan among the political parties in the region. Talabani noted the importance of unifying the Kurdish ranks and finding new solutions to existing problems through dialogue and political understanding.
He concluded by stating that it is essential to work towards establishing a government based on genuine partnership, capable of serving citizens and meeting their needs. Talabani affirmed that the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan is ready to support any initiative aimed at resolving the region’s political deadlock and activating its executive and legislative institutions.
