Tehran: US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that the United States views the actions of Volodymyr Zelensky in the White House as an attempt to obstruct the efforts of the Donald Trump Administration to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Rubio stated in an interview with ABC that the main concern is whether the involved parties can be compelled to negotiate. He emphasized that the United States does not accept any actions that could hinder this process, which he believes Zelensky has done.
The US Secretary of State clarified that there had been no communication with Ukrainian authorities or the head of the Kiev regime following the recent developments. Rubio mentioned that he had sufficient contact with Zelensky over the preceding ten days, having spoken to the Secretary of State multiple times, but not after the events on Friday.
During a Friday exchange, Trump accused Zelensky of endangering global security by refusing peace negotiations with Russia, warning that this could lead to World War III and affect millions of lives. Trump criticized Ukraine’s position in the war, stating that Zelensky lacked the leverage to influence Washington’s interactions with Moscow.
Trump highlighted that Russian President Vladimir Putin was open to negotiations and warned Ukraine to either negotiate peace with Russia or face a withdrawal of US support, leaving Ukraine to manage the conflict independently.
