Moscow: Russia announced its support for a proposed 30-day ceasefire between it and Ukraine, but stipulated that “the nuances” of the war, which has been ongoing for more than three years, be taken into account.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in press statements, “Russia supports the implementation of a 30-day ceasefire in the conflict with Ukraine, but stipulates that the nuances of the war be taken into account.” He added, “This issue was raised by the Ukrainian side a long time ago.”

He explained, “As soon as the Donald Trump Administration proposed this idea, President Vladimir Putin supported it with some reservations, because it is very difficult to discuss this matter in detail if answers are not reached on a large number of nuances related to the ceasefire idea.”

Russia has emphasized on several occasions that the implementation of a long-term ceasefire with Ukraine depends on the establishment of mechanisms to monitor and adhere to this step.

Several Western capitals have reported in recent hours that there are serious efforts to reach a month-long ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine. US President Donald Trump discussed the matter during a phone call yesterday with his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
