Baghdad: Russia is set to transfer modern technologies and specialized expertise in the field of water to Iraq, as both nations underscore the importance of strengthening bilateral relations in the water sector. The collaboration aims to enhance joint cooperation and utilize advanced Russian expertise in water resource management to develop this crucial sector in Iraq.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Minister of Water Resources, Muthanna al-Tamimi, engaged in discussions with the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Iraq, Elbrus Kutrashev, focusing on advancing Iraq’s water sector. The talks centered around the transfer of Russian expertise in modern irrigation technologies, dam construction and management, addressing water scarcity, and developing water infrastructure.

Al-Tamimi highlighted the significance of bolstering bilateral relations with Russia in the water sector, especially given the current climate challenges facing the region. He emphasized Iraq’s eagerness to explore new avenues for cooperation that would benefit this critical sector.

The Russian Ambassador, Elbrus Kutrashev, expressed Russia’s readiness to provide modern technologies and specialized expertise to Iraq. He affirmed support for the Iraqi government’s efforts to enhance the water system, contributing to sustainable development and improved water security in the country.
