Safwan: Police in Safwan district, west of Basra, seized a large quantity of fireworks and arrested the possessors.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Basra Governorate Police Command stated in a press release: “Following information received about individuals selling fireworks, a team was formed which arrested four people and seized a quantity of illegal fireworks in their possession.”

The statement added: “Legal measures have been taken against the accused, and they have been referred to the relevant authorities.”

The police command emphasized that the use and sale of fireworks is a dangerous practice due to the potential for physical harm, in addition to the accompanying violence and negative behaviors that threaten social peace.
