Saudi arabia: The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its condemnation and denunciation of the Colombian government’s recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, considering this a step that contradicts international law and relevant international legitimacy resolutions.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed in a statement: “This recognition blatantly violates relevant UN resolutions, particularly Security Council Resolution 497 of 1981, which deemed Israel’s imposition of its laws, jurisdiction, and administration on the occupied Syrian Golan Heights null and void and without any legal effect.”

It stressed that such positions do not contribute to achieving peace, but rather represent a departure from the established international position on the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, perpetuate the logic of imposing a fait accompli, and undermine efforts to achieve peace in the region.

The ministry reiterated its firm position that the Golan Heights are occupied Syrian Arab territory, and that any measures or decisions aimed at changing its legal status do not create any right or legitimize such actions. It called on the Colombian government to reconsider its position, adhere to international law and resolutions of international legitimacy, and continue its contribution to supporting efforts aimed at achieving security, stability, and a just and lasting peace in the region.
