Baghdad: Heavy rains in the US state of West Virginia caused flash floods that swept through the city of Weston, resulting in widespread property damage. The powerful torrents pushed massive amounts of water and mud into the ground floors of several buildings, most notably the Hampton Inn in Weston, where guests and staff were trapped.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, hotel and shopping center parking lots were completely submerged, damaging dozens of vehicles that were submerged up to their windows. The continuous thunderstorms caused local rivers and streams to overflow, turning the city’s main streets into raging torrents.
