Baghdad: Deputy Speaker of Parliament Shakhwan Abdullah has directed the urgent follow-up of legislative procedures concerning the draft law amending the third law on compensation for victims of war operations, military errors, and terrorist operations No. (20) of 2009, as amended. This draft law, submitted by the Parliamentary Committee on Martyrs and Victims, is set to be included on the agenda of the next parliamentary session for a second reading.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Abdullah emphasized the importance of the draft law and the necessity of advancing the legislative procedures to ensure it is voted on during the current parliamentary session. The aim is to secure compensation for the families affected by the loss or injury of loved ones during or as a result of service. The amendments seek to extend the period allowing the combination of the compensation salary under this law with any other salary, in accordance with Article 132 of the Constitution, to ensure justice for the affected segment.
