Sharjah: The Sharjah Book Authority has announced that the fourth edition of the Sharjah Animation and Comics Conference will take place in the Aljada area from October 22 to 25, 2026.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the upcoming edition represents a significant development in the conference’s evolution, integrating comics alongside animation to expand opportunities for creators in various visual storytelling disciplines. The event aims to facilitate communication and collaboration among creators, publishers, and producers from both the region and around the world.
The conference’s expansion to include comics highlights a trend towards uniting interconnected areas within the visual storytelling industry on a single platform. This inclusion widens the participation circle to encompass authors, illustrators, and publishers, in addition to animators and producers, fostering new collaborative projects across different disciplines.
A key feature of the conference program is the “Animation and Comics M
arket,” an initiative designed to cultivate professional relationships and partnerships within the industry. This year’s edition will gather a select group of creators, experts, and specialists from around the world, merging theoretical content with practical experience to enhance participants’ skills and projects.
The focus of this edition is on the development stage following talent discovery, emphasizing how creators can refine their tools, present their projects, and build professional networks to access new opportunities and markets. The third edition, held in May 2025, attracted over 5,000 visitors globally and featured over 70 international experts discussing the future of animation and the intersections of innovation, artificial intelligence, and human imagination.
