Sharjah: The Sharjah Institute for Heritage announced today the details of the 26th Sharjah International Narrator Forum, set to occur from September 23-27, 2026, under the theme “Tales of Friends.” This cultural event will involve more than 120 narrators, researchers, and participants from 28 countries, aiming to celebrate oral heritage and enhance cultural exchange through storytelling.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Musallam, Chairman of the Institute and Head of the Forum’s Higher Committee, revealed during a press conference that the theme was selected to emphasize friendship as a universal human value present in folk tales and other cultural narratives. He highlighted that the Forum seeks to establish itself as a global platform for narrators, researchers, and cultural institutions to gather and share knowledge.
The 26th edition of the Forum will honor individuals whose contributions have significantly impacted storytelling and culture, ensuring the transmission of knowledge to future generations. The event’s agenda includes over 60 workshops, as well as 21 preparatory workshops hosted at the Summer Storyteller Camp and the Storyteller Program, which aim to nurture emerging storytellers.
Additionally, the Forum will feature the presentation of more than 30 publications and an academic program comprising lectures, specialized seminars, panel discussions, a cultural caf©, and a designated area for book signings.
