Baghdad: The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) announced on Monday the destruction of approximately 240 kilograms of narcotics. Judge Yasser Fentil, head of the Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Destruction Committee, reported the details of the operation.

According to Iraqi News Agency, Judge Fentil stated in a press release that the committee destroyed approximately 240 kilograms of various substances that had been seized and stored at the Forensic Medicine Department of the Basra Health Directorate. The operation was conducted in coordination with the Ministry of Health and the Department of Forensic Medicine in Baghdad.

Judge Fentil further detailed that 239 kilograms and 837 grams of narcotic substances were destroyed. The operation also included the destruction of 1,388 narcotic pills and 202 bottles containing the narcotic substance codeine.
