Elazig: Several Turkish provinces, including Elazig, Erzincan, and Artvin, witnessed solidarity gatherings in support of the Palestinian people and the “Global Resilience Fleet,” launched with the participation of activists from more than 44 countries to break the Israeli blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, in Elazig, “Al-Aqsa Platform” organized an event at Democracy July 15 Square, where citizens raised Palestinian flags and chanted slogans condemning the blockade. Osman Gr, the platform’s spokesperson, said the humanitarian situation in Gaza has “exceeded the limits of endurance,” stressing that civilians are being starved amid daily massacres and “a shameful international silence.”
In Erzincan, the “Solidarity with Palestine Platform” staged a sit-in at Kizilay Square, where participants carried Palestinian and Turkish flags along with banners demanding an end to the siege. The platform’s spokesman, Zakir Yildiz, described the “Global Resilience Fleet” as “the conscience of humanity in the face of the crimes of occupation.”
In Artvin, the “Support Palestine Platform” held a similar gathering at Khalid Pasha Square, with the participation of representatives from political parties and civil society organizations. Osman Delibas, head of the Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH) branch in the province, said the ongoing atrocities in Gaza over the past two years had reached the level of “genocide.” He stressed that the fleet is “not merely a humanitarian initiative, but a movement of conscience that keeps hope alive despite the blockade.”
The “Global Resilience Fleet” set sail last Sunday from the Spanish port of Barcelona with around 20 ships, followed by another convoy from Italy’s Genoa port. It is expected to be joined by the Maghreb fleet departing from Tunisia next Sunday before heading to Gaza. The fleet consists of a coalition that includes the “Freedom Flotilla,” the Global Gaza Movement, the “Resilience Convoy,” and Malaysia’s “Nusantara Resilience” organization.
