Basra: Southern Electricity Distribution Company has announced a significant restructuring of its Human Rights Team to bolster its monitoring and follow-up processes. This move aims to enhance the company’s ability to handle complaints and observations related to human rights more effectively.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the General Company for Electricity Distribution in the South has issued an administrative order for the reconstitution of its Human Rights Team. This decision aligns with ministerial directives and existing administrative powers, aiming to strengthen mechanisms for monitoring and follow-up, regulate the handling of human rights-related complaints, and prepare necessary data, statistics, and reports in coordination with relevant authorities.

The restructured team is led by Fadwa Ta’ma Sa’doun, with Zainab Shahid Khalaf and Saif Salah Hashim serving as key members. Their responsibilities include monitoring and documenting cases and observations, managing complaints and related information, and preparing periodic reports in coordination with the High Commission for Human Rights and the Ministry’s Legal Department.

Director General, Engineer Nash’at Kadhim Yassin, emphasized that the reconstitution aims to enhance the company’s responsiveness to human rights-related observations and complaints. This initiative seeks to regulate follow-up and coordination mechanisms with relevant authorities, in accordance with the Ministry of Electricity’s directives to uphold human rights principles and improve services for citizens.
