Baghdad:The Spokesperson for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Sabah al-Nu’man, stated that Sovereignty Day represents a significant turning point for Iraq. It symbolizes the establishment of a new era characterized by independent security decision-making and territorial control through national efforts.

According to the National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Nu’man highlighted the day’s importance, emphasizing its role in restoring full control over Iraq’s future and signaling an end to reliance on foreign forces. He noted the shift toward equal partnerships and praised the armed forces for their readiness and capability to secure borders, cities, and pursue terrorist remnants, attributing this to their accumulated combat experience.

He further explained ongoing efforts to secure Iraq’s airspace, which include strategic plans to enhance the defense system. These plans involve upgrading the Air Defense Force with advanced radars and surveillance systems, diversifying armament sources with smart technologies and drones, and improving intelligence and cybersecurity capabilities. Additionally, there is a focus on consolidating military assets under a unified national command to ensure state control over weaponry, safeguarding Iraq’s sovereignty across land, air, and sea.
