Baghdad: Speaker of Parliament, Haibat al-Halbousi, emphasized that all Iraqi components are entitled to rights and obligations, which everyone is expected to uphold. In an interview with the Iraqi National News Agency (NINA), al-Halbousi highlighted the recent developments in parliament following the elections held on November 11.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Halbousi noted that the parliament has successfully completed its initial constitutional duty by electing the Speaker of Parliament and his two deputies. This outcome was made possible through the collaborative efforts of bloc leaders and parliament members. Al-Halbousi further explained that the process for electing the President of the Republic has commenced, with a nomination period set for three days in adherence to the constitutional timeline. The largest parliamentary bloc has submitted its nomination papers, and the formal request has been received.

Al-Halbousi outlined that once the President of the Republic is elected, the responsibility of nominating a candidate for Prime Minister will fall to the largest bloc. He assured that the new parliament, now in its sixth legislative session, is committed to fostering dialogue between the federal government and the Kurdistan Region to address unresolved issues collaboratively.
