Baghdad: Speaker of Parliament, Haibat al-Halbousi, received the Head of the National Security Service, Abdul Karim al-Basri, today, Thursday. A statement by al-Halbousi's office said: "Al-Basri congratulated the Speaker of Parliament on his election as Speaker for the sixth session and on gaining the confidence of the members of Parliament. The two sides also discussed a number of matters related to the work of the National Security Service."

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting between al-Halbousi and al-Basri focused on discussing several issues pertinent to the National Security Service's operations. Al-Basri extended his congratulations to al-Halbousi for his recent election as Speaker and acknowledged the trust placed in him by the parliamentary members. The discussions aimed to address and enhance the functioning and effectiveness of the National Security Service.
