Sudan Severs Diplomatic Ties with the UAE

Khartoum: Sudan's Security and Defense Council announced on Tuesday the severing of diplomatic relations with the UAE. The Council stated: "Diplomatic relations with the UAE have been severed, our Embassy and consulate there have been closed, and we will withdraw the Sudanese Ambassador from the UAE."

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Council emphasized its position, adding, "We reserve the right to respond to aggression by all means to preserve the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity and ensure the protection of civilians." This significant diplomatic move follows a recent decision by the International Court of Justice.

Yesterday, Monday, the International Court of Justice rejected a lawsuit filed by the Sudanese government last month against the UAE, accusing it of complicity in genocide. This rejection appears to have been a factor in Sudan's decision to cut ties, as it was a major legal and diplomatic setback for the country.
