Banias:Syria: The Syrian government has started transporting gasoline to Iraq through the port of Banias, in response to recent disruptions affecting shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a Syrian source revealed that gasoline shipments have commenced with an initial convoy of 57 tankers. Efforts are underway to increase the operational capacity to approximately 200 tankers per day using the al-Tanf border crossing. This initiative is aimed at securing energy supplies for Iraq.

The gasoline is purchased by the Qatari company UCC from various international suppliers, with Syrian authorities handling the transportation in return for a transit fee. This development enhances Syria’s position as a significant transit corridor for goods and energy in the region.
