Deir ez-Zor: ISIS has escalated its attacks in areas controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has documented more than 50 such attacks since the beginning of 2025.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported on Tuesday that gunmen, likely affiliated with ISIS, launched an “attack with machine guns on a military vehicle” in areas controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces, northeast of Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria.

The previous day, the Observatory reported four other attacks in similar areas in Deir ez-Zor “within 72 hours” since Friday.

The Observatory also reported that an “oil investor sustained varying degrees of injury” after being “targeted by ISIS militants” east of the governorate on Monday.

The day before, a civilian was shot dead by ISIS militants north of Deir ez-Zor “on charges of cooperating with the Syrian Democratic Forces” after “receiving several threats” from ISIS.

The Observatory noted that since the beginning of 2025, it has documented 53 attacks carried out by ISIS against civilians and employees of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (DANES), which is under the control of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in Rojava.

The death toll from these attacks reached 13, including ten SDF soldiers and three civilians, according to the Observatory.
