Baghdad: Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein discussed with his Jordanian counterpart, Ayman Safadi, and his Egyptian counterpart, Badr Abdel Aati, mechanisms for activating tripartite cooperation between Iraq, Jordan, and Egypt.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein, alongside Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, and Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Expatriates Affairs Badr Abdel Aati, held extensive talks in Baghdad. These discussions took place within the framework of the tripartite cooperation mechanism between Iraq, Egypt, and Jordan, coinciding with the preparatory meeting of the Council of the League of Arab States at the foreign ministers’ level, in preparation for the 34th regular session of the Arab Summit.

At the meeting’s outset, Fuad Hussein welcomed the foreign ministers of Egypt and Jordan, expressing gratitu
de for their active participation in the preparatory meetings. The Egyptian and Jordanian ministers, in turn, congratulated Iraq on hosting the summit and pledged their full support for the Iraqi government’s efforts to ensure the summit’s success and to strengthen joint Arab action.

The statement highlighted a discussion on a comprehensive concept paper addressing political and economic aspects within the trilateral cooperation framework. An agreement was reached to coordinate and converge viewpoints on the issues before presenting them at the summit meetings. A joint paper was also prepared, including the most important points agreed upon by the foreign ministers of the three countries.

The ministers further discussed mechanisms for implementing previous agreements and ways to overcome obstacles to their implementation. It was agreed upon the necessity of setting clear dates for meetings between the relevant parties in the three countries. This aims to arrive at an integrated technical and practical visio
n that contributes to developing the trilateral cooperation mechanism and making appropriate decisions regarding it.
