Basra: Medical staff in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Al-Madina General Hospital, north of Basra Governorate, have successfully saved triplets, all boys, from the Al-Jubayish district in Dhi Qar Governorate. The babies were born prematurely in the eighth month of pregnancy, arriving in a critical condition.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Basra Health Department media office stated, “The babies were delivered via cesarean section and immediately transferred to the NICU for intensive care due to their unstable condition resulting from premature birth.” The statement further detailed that the triplets received intensive medical and nursing care under the supervision of pediatrician and neonatologist Dr. Faiz Hussein Ali.

The latest scientific protocols for treating premature infants were implemented, utilizing advanced incubators and state-of-the-art vital signs monitoring equipment that became operational at the hospital this July. The statement highlighted that continuous, round-the-clock monitoring contributed to a complete improvement in their health and their recovery from the critical stage.

The triplets were then discharged to their families in good and stable condition, with regular follow-up appointments scheduled to monitor their growth and development.
