Erbil: The Ministry of Interior announced on Saturday the arrest of three suspects and the seizure of 5 kg of crystal methamphetamine in Erbil Governorate.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the operation was conducted following directives from the Senior Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, Hussein Al-Awadi. The Salah al-Din Narcotics Affairs Directorate, in coordination with the Erbil Anti-Narcotics Directorate, executed this joint security operation as part of their efforts to combat drug trafficking networks.
The ministry statement highlighted that the operation was the culmination of joint security and intelligence efforts. These efforts led to the identification of the suspects, close monitoring of their movements, and ultimately, their arrest during an illicit activity.
The statement further emphasized the crucial role of joint coordination between the judiciary and relevant agencies. This collaboration is aimed at establishing a formidable security barrier against drug traffickers and dealers, effectively disrupting their smuggling routes and eliminating the sources of their trade.
