Baghdad: Trkiye, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan are poised to sign a joint defense agreement today in Saudi Arabia. Turkish security sources revealed this development to the Turkish Anadolu Agency, highlighting the collaborative effort among the three nations. The agreement is expected to be signed during Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's one-day working visit to Jeddah.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, President Erdogan's itinerary includes meetings with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The anticipated agreement underscores the growing defense cooperation between these countries amid ongoing regional challenges. Pakistan is actively mediating to end the conflict between the United States and Iran, while Turkey is involved in diplomatic efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza.

In a related context, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan have a history of defense collaboration, having signed a joint strategic defense agreement in September 2015. The earlier agreement aimed to develop defense cooperation and strengthen joint deterrence capabilities.
