Baghdad: The Turkish Ministry of Justice has requested the Ministry of the Interior to issue a “red notice” for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Avigdor Moskowitz, based on arrest warrants issued against them in connection with a lawsuit in Istanbul related to the attack on activists of the “Global Steadfastness Flotilla.” Turkish Justice Minister Akin Grlek stated that the legal proceedings in the case are ongoing before the 11th High Criminal Court in Istanbul. He noted that the case file, number 2026/108, includes 35 defendants, among them Netanyahu and Moskowitz.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Grlek explained that the Ministry of Justice requested the Interior Ministry to issue the red notice for Netanyahu and Moskowitz, based on the arrest warrants issued on July 14, 2026, and also forwarded the relevant memoranda to the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Netanyahu and Moskowitz face charges including “crimes against humanity,” “genocide,” “aggravated deprivation of liberty,” “willful harm,” “torture,” “damage to property,” “looting,” and “hijacking,” stemming from the armed attack and detention of the activists in international waters.
Grlek stated that Turkey “under no circumstances accepts” the Netanyahu government being treated as “above the law or immune from punishment,” emphasizing that his country will continue to utilize all national and international legal mechanisms to prosecute those responsible for the alleged crimes. The Turkish minister stressed that his country will not forget the crimes committed in Gaza, affirming its continued support for the Palestinian people and “human conscience” under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
He asserted that Turkey will take all necessary steps to pursue those accused of committing crimes against humanity and bring them to justice. On October 1st of last year, the Israeli army attacked 42 ships belonging to the Global Freedom Flotilla as they sailed in international waters toward Gaza. Hundreds of international activists on board were arrested and transferred to Ketziot Prison before being deported on October 3rd.
This act of genocide, supported by the United States, resulted in over 73,000 Palestinian martyrs and more than 174,000 wounded, most of them children and women, and the destruction of 90% of the infrastructure. Despite the ceasefire agreement declared on October 10, 2025, Israel continues its genocide with daily bombardments that have killed 1,273 Palestinians and wounded 4,223, most of them children and women, in addition to widespread destruction.
