Washington: US President Donald Trump affirmed on Saturday that he is continuing to exert intense economic pressure on Iran, asserting that the Iranian currency is collapsing and the country is facing high inflation rates.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Trump wrote in a post on the Truth Social platform, "I am destroying the Iranian currency, and Iran is experiencing massive inflation," in his latest remarks amidst an unprecedented escalation of tensions between Washington and Tehran.

Trump's statements came hours after the US State Department warned its citizens in the Middle East of the possibility of a sudden escalation, urging Americans in the region to be prepared to leave should the security situation deteriorate. The State Department also warned of the possibility of Iran or its allied groups targeting US interests around the world.
