Brussels: US President Donald Trump praised Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa for his efforts in unifying Syria and improving conditions within the country over the past year and a half. In a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the sidelines of the NATO summit, Trump expressed his admiration for al-Sharaa's leadership and achievements.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Trump remarked, "Al-Sharaa has done a fantastic job in Syria. He has unified Syria remarkably. He has managed to improve the situation in his country in a year and a half." The US president highlighted the progress made under al-Sharaa's leadership, acknowledging the positive changes within Syria during his tenure.

Trump also emphasized the significance of his relationship with the new Syrian president, attributing the successful diplomatic rapprochement to President Erdogan's influence. He explained that Erdogan played a crucial role in facilitating the improved US-Syria relations, underscoring the importance of collaborative efforts in achieving international stability.
