Trump Declines to Back Israel’s Somaliland Recognition, Promises Further Review

Washington: US President Donald Trump announced that he will not endorse Israel’s decision to recognize “Somaliland,” but indicated that he will “study” the proposal on behalf of the separatists. Trump emphasized his approach of careful consideration, stating, “Everything is under consideration. I always study many things and make decisions that later prove to be correct.”

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Trump’s remarks come in the wake of Israel’s recent decision, which has sparked international dialogue regarding Somaliland’s status. Somaliland, a self-declared state in the Horn of Africa, has sought international recognition since its separation from Somalia in 1991. However, it remains unrecognized by most of the international community.

Trump’s stance reflects ongoing debates within the US administration about how to approach emerging geopolitical shifts. The President’s statement suggests that he is weighing the potential implications of Israel’s recognition on US foreign policy and regional
stability. As Trump proceeds with his review, the international community watches closely for any shifts in the US position that may influence future diplomatic relations in the region.
