Baghdad: US President Donald Trump has ordered a temporary halt to military strikes against Iran to give diplomacy a chance.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the directive instructed the US military to stop the latest wave of airstrikes on Iran, ending two weeks of continuous daily attacks, in order to allow space for ongoing diplomatic efforts behind the scenes.

National Iraqi News Agency reported, citing sources, that Trump’s decision to halt the strikes came hours after an Omani delegation arrived in Tehran for talks regarding the Strait of Hormuz.
