Washington: US President Donald Trump announced that the military operation aimed to bring Maduro to justice and that the US would govern Venezuela. He said at a press conference: “Following my directives, the armed forces today conducted an extraordinary military operation in Venezuela. Maduro was arrested in the dead of night, along with his wife, and both will face American justice.”
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the operation in Caracas was carried out with precision and efficiency, coordinated with American law enforcement agencies, and supported by naval forces ready at sea. President Trump emphasized that no American soldiers were killed, nor was any equipment lost during the operation in Venezuela.
Trump further explained the motivation behind the operation, highlighting the drug trafficking issues associated with Venezuela. He asserted the need for a safe and fair transition in the country to achieve peace, freedom, and justice for the Venezuelan people. The president emphasized the risks of having a leader who does not prioritize the interests of Venezuelans, pointing out Venezuela’s underutilized oil export potential.
The president also expressed readiness for further military action if necessary, suggesting that the US’s capabilities could significantly improve the conditions for the Venezuelan population. He accused Maduro of conducting campaigns of terror and violence, destabilizing the region, and operating a criminal network responsible for exporting drugs to the United States. Trump also mentioned that Maduro and his wife are currently on an American ship en route to New York to face justice.
President Trump concluded by stating that the military operation in Caracas serves as a warning to anyone who threatens the US, declaring that those who act like Maduro should be aware that they could face similar consequences.
