Baghdad: The State of Law Coalition announced its rejection of the nine candidates currently proposed for the position of Prime Minister.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Coalition emphasized the critical nature of Iraq’s current political, economic, and security challenges, which demand heightened national responsibility from political forces within the coordinating framework. The Coalition reiterated its commitment to maintaining state stability and avoiding political deadlock or constitutional paralysis.

The Coalition’s statement highlighted its consensus, alongside most political blocs within the coordinating framework, to reject the nine candidates due to their lack of broad political and national acceptance. The candidates are seen as unable to achieve the necessary balance in managing the upcoming phase, both domestically and internationally.

The Coalition underscored the necessity for a national consensus candidate who is genuinely accepted by all active political parties and capable of managing the state efficiently. Such a candidate should also secure a reasonable level of regional and international acceptance, which is crucial to preserving Iraq’s sovereignty and preventing further pressure or isolation.

Furthermore, the State of Law Coalition stressed the importance of adhering to constitutional timelines, respecting legal mechanisms in forming the government, and prioritizing understanding and political partnership over coercion. This approach is deemed essential to protect the political and institutional stability of the state.

The Coalition called on the coordinating framework to make a balanced and wise decision to avoid repeating past political deadlocks and to establish a more stable political phase capable of addressing the country’s challenges.
