Ankara: The Turkish Presidency’s Directorate of Communications’ Disinformation Center has refuted allegations that criminals from Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan are being deported to Turkey by air from European countries.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Disinformation Center declared the claim to be disinformation in a statement published on the Turkish platform “InSocial.” The statement emphasized that Turkey does not have a policy of accepting third-country nationals from other countries and that it is not feasible to return foreigners with criminal records or those lacking legal residency rights in Turkey.

The center further clarified that Turkey does not accept the return of third-country nationals, whether on a collective or individual basis. Additionally, the relevant authority has initiated legal action by filing a criminal complaint with the Public Prosecutor’s Office. This measure is taken under Article 217/A of the Turkish Penal Code No. 5237, concerning charges of publicly disseminating misleading information.
