Ankara: Turkey has issued a call to the international community to take responsibility in preventing Israel from executing its military plans to occupy the Gaza Strip. Turkey warns that these plans aim to make Gaza uninhabitable, thereby forcibly displacing Palestinians from their homeland.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Turkish Foreign Ministry released a statement on Friday, characterizing Israel’s decision as a continuation of its expansionist and genocidal policy in the region. The statement emphasized that steps taken by the Netanyahu government to perpetuate the genocide of Palestinians and expand territorial occupation pose a severe threat to international peace and security, escalate regional instability, and worsen the humanitarian crisis.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry asserted that lasting peace in the region can only be achieved through adherence to international law, diplomacy, and the protection of fundamental human rights. The statement urged Israel, as the occupying power, to halt its military plans immediately, agree to a ceasefire in Gaza, and engage in negotiations aimed at a two-state solution.

Furthermore, the Turkish Foreign Ministry called on the UN Security Council to issue binding resolutions to stop Israel from continuing actions that violate international law and humanitarian principles. The Israeli government, led by Netanyahu, approved the plan to occupy Gaza after an extensive 10-hour discussion, defying the warnings of the Chief of the General Staff of the Israeli Defense Forces about the potential security and humanitarian repercussions of such a decision.
