Baghdad: Turkish and Egyptian special forces have successfully concluded the joint military exercise "Golden Eagle" on Egyptian soil, aiming to bolster defense cooperation between the nations. The exercise included the Egyptian paratrooper and commando forces alongside Turkish special forces.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Egyptian Army announced the conclusion of the exercise, which was conducted over several days at combat training ranges of the Egyptian paratrooper and commando forces. The final phase simulated an assault on a terrorist stronghold within a residential area, involving helicopters, hostage liberation, and capturing terrorist elements. Participants also engaged in shooting drills, storming enclosed spaces, and vertical assaults using an aircraft simulator.

The exercise further trained personnel in handling improvised explosive devices (IEDs), utilizing drones, and methods to counter them. Training on a freefall simulator and operational freefall parachuting was also conducted, as mentioned in the Egyptian Army's statement.

A "friendship jump" with the flags of both countries marked the end of the exercises, highlighting the advanced technical skills of the participants. The closing ceremony was attended by commanders from both Egyptian and Turkish armed forces, and the Turkish military attach© in Cairo.

The training concluded after Egyptian Defense Minister Ashraf Salem Zaher's official visit to Turkey, where he met with Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Gler to discuss enhancing military cooperation. Their discussions included training cooperation, expertise exchange, and signing a letter of intent to strengthen defense ties.
