Ankara: Turkish authorities have begun procedures to revoke the citizenship of 687 foreigners who obtained it illegally, following the dismantling of a massive fraud network in a security operation carried out across 16 provinces.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the network relied on falsifying appraisal reports for inexpensive properties and artificially inflating their value to meet citizenship requirements. This fraudulent activity resulted in the movement of fictitious funds estimated at 2.5 billion Turkish lira (approximately $100 at an exchange rate of 4,735 lira to the dollar).

The operation led to the arrest of 72 suspects and the confiscation of hundreds of properties, companies, and assets belonging to the network.
