Ankara: Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held phone calls on Tuesday with several officials and Arab counterparts to discuss international efforts to recognize the State of Palestine, as well as the situations in Gaza and Syria.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Fidan engaged in discussions with Palestinian Vice President Hussein al-Sheikh focusing on international efforts to recognize the State of Palestine. The Turkish Foreign Ministry noted that the call revolved around these efforts, although further specifics were not disclosed.

The Turkish Foreign Minister also communicated with his Omani counterpart, Badr al-Busaidi, discussing both the recognition of the State of Palestine and the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, which is experiencing severe challenges. The Turkish Foreign Ministry highlighted that these conversations also addressed bilateral relations and ongoing efforts to bolster international recognition of Palestine.

In a related dialogue, Fidan spoke with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan regarding preparations for an upcoming meeting in New York on September 22nd, aimed at advancing the recognition of the State of Palestine. The conversation also covered efforts to facilitate humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza.

Additionally, Fidan and his Jordanian counterpart, Ayman Safadi, discussed the situations in Gaza and Syria. The Turkish Foreign Ministry indicated that their talks included updates on the Palestinian issue, Gaza’s humanitarian conditions, and developments in southern Syria.
