Balikesir: Turkish Health Minister Kemal Memisoglu announced that four people were injured in the earthquake that struck the Sindirgi district of Balikesir province, western Turkey. Memisoglu stated on his Twitter account this evening, Sunday, that the four injured people are receiving treatment in the hospital and their injuries are not serious.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Memisoglu noted the readiness of medical teams and their deployment in the area of the earthquake. The Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) had announced earlier this evening that Balikesir province was struck by a 6.1-magnitude earthquake, centered in the Sindirgi district of the province, at a depth of 11 km below the surface.

The earthquake was followed by three aftershocks measuring 4.6 degrees, 4.1 degrees, and 4 degrees.
