Ankara: The Turkish Ministry of Defense announced the downing of a ballistic missile launched from Iran, marking the second such incident in less than a week. The missile was intercepted by NATO air and missile defense forces after entering Turkish airspace over the city of Gaziantep in southeastern Turkey.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Turkish Ministry of Defense issued a press release stating that "some fragments of the missile fell in uninhabited fields in Gaziantep, and the incident resulted in no injuries or material damage." The Ministry emphasized the importance of good neighborly relations and regional stability while affirming that all necessary steps will be taken against any threat targeting Turkish territory and airspace.
Last Wednesday, the Ministry reported a similar incident, where a ballistic missile launched from Iran was destroyed as it approached Turkish airspace. The missile was neutralized by NATO air and missile defense elements stationed in the eastern Mediterranean. The Ministry reiterated the importance of responding to Turkey's warnings, highlighting that doing so benefits all parties involved.
