Istanbul: Turkish Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Ibrahim Yumakli, announced that all forest fires in the country have been controlled, with the exception of one fire in the northwestern province of Bursa, expressing his hope that the flames will be contained within the next few hours.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, in a press statement on Tuesday, Yumakli said, "There is currently only one raging fire in the country, the Harmancik fire in Bursa province, and there is an exceptional effort to control this fire, with the participation of five fixed-wing aircraft, 30 helicopters, and 855 fire engines."

He pointed out that 55 fires broke out in Turkey in the past 24 hours, and that all of them have been brought under control. Last Sunday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that Turkey is on constant alert with 27 fixed-wing aircraft, 105 helicopters, 25,000 forest workers, and 132,000 volunteers to protect forests from fires, and that it is making tremendous efforts to extinguish forest fires from the air and on the ground.

It is worth noting that 15 firefighters were killed and 17 others were injured during forest fire operations last week in several regions of Turkey.
