Ankara: The Turkish Ministry of Defense has announced the successful destruction of a cave utilized by the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) for launching attacks against the Turkish army in northern Iraq.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry detailed in a statement that the cave was located within the “Claw Lock” operation area, and a significant quantity of weapons and ammunition was seized during the operation. The Ministry emphasized its commitment to ongoing operations aimed at pursuing PKK members and pushing them to abandon their separatist activities.

The statement from the Turkish Ministry of Defense highlighted that the outlawed PKK has established a stronghold in the Qandil Mountains in northern Iraq. From these bases, they operate in various cities, regions, and valleys, launching attacks within Turkey. The Turkish Army continues efforts to eliminate these terrorism sources.

It is noteworthy that the ongoing military operation, ‘Claw Lock,’ was launched on April 18, 2021. It targets PKK strongholds in the regions of Metina, Kara, Hakurk, Zap, Afshin, and Bazian in northern Iraq.
