Turkish Ministry Urges Kurdish SDF to Integrate with Syrian Army


Ankara: The Turkish Ministry of Defense has called on the Kurdish SDF to fulfill its commitments to integrate into the Syrian army, emphasizing its ongoing support for Syrian defense capabilities.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, a Turkish Defense Ministry source stated in a media release that the SDF, labeled as a terrorist organization, must adhere to the integration process into the Syrian army and avoid any actions or rhetoric that might threaten Syria’s political unity and territorial integrity.



The source highlighted that the Syrian government, through its various institutions and units, is continuously working to rebuild the country and establish stability and security.



He mentioned that since the signing of the joint training and consulting memorandum of understanding with Turkey on August 13, activities such as training, visits, consulting, and technical support are ongoing. These efforts are aimed at enhancing defense and security capabilities in accordance with the requests of the Syrian government.



The Turkish Ministry of Defense reiterated in its circular that Syria’s stability and security are crucial for regional peace. Turkey is committed to maintaining close cooperation with the Syrian government to uphold the principle of “one state, one army” in Syria. It stressed the critical importance of integrating the SDF into the Syrian army and noted that Turkey is closely monitoring the situation.
