Tashkent: Turkish Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmus stated that the ongoing situation in Palestine highlights an urgent need for a new, just international order. Speaking at the 150th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in the Uzbek capital, Kurtulmus described the events in the Gaza Strip as one of the largest genocides in human history.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Kurtulmus emphasized the significance of the IPU meeting, which convenes at a time when the global order is under significant strain. He highlighted the primary responsibility of the participants, in their parliamentary roles, to address the prevailing global political, economic, and geopolitical challenges.

Kurtulmus lamented the loss of over 50,000 innocent lives in Gaza over the past year and a half, attributing it to Israel's aggressive actions. He asserted the duty to voice this truth in the name of humanity's conscience, stressing the lack of effective intervention by any global institution to halt the atrocities occurring in Palestine.

He further criticized the weak responses from international voices advocating for an end to the genocide, questioning their ability to secure the rights of the Palestinian people. Kurtulmus framed the situation in Palestine as a critical test of global justice and conscience.

In his address, Kurtulmus underscored the necessity of establishing a new global political and economic structure, citing the developments in Palestine as a clear indication of this need. He urged legislative bodies worldwide to take part in shaping a new international order, while also addressing national issues.

Kurtulmus called on global parliaments to collaborate in forming a new, equitable political and economic system, emphasizing the significant role legislative bodies can play in this transformative process.
